A stranger can become a lifelong connection. A new experience can open our eyes to a world we never knew existed. Something so small and seemingly insignificant can completely change the way we see, think, feel and understand the world around us.Like ripples in water, these connections reach far beyond the moment in which they happen. One experience influences another. One connection leads to the next. Each person, place and moment becomes part of something much bigger, shaping who we are, the paths we take and the people we are yet to become. And just as others leave their mark on us, we too leave something of ourselves with every person we encounter. We may never truly know how far our ripples reach, whose lives we have touched, or how one small moment might change the course of someone else's journey. The Ripple Effect is a reflection of the invisible connections that weave through our lives, reminding us that nothing exists entirely on its own.We are all connected. Every experience matters. And sometimes, the smallest connection can create the greatest change._____________________________________________________________________________________________ARTIST: RaeRae Hemara | Creative Tutu Samoan, Ngāpuhi-nui-tonu, Ngāti Wharara, Ngāti Kaharau,Te Uri Taniwha and Ngāti Hineira.Bay of Islands, New Zealand RaeRae Hemara doesn't Consider herself as an Artist but more of a "Creative tutu!" she dabbles in all things artistic, crafty and creative. - Painting, pastel, charcoal, arts, Cake making, resin - if its Crafty shes probably had a tutu Born into an artistic and creative whānau, RaeRae Hemara was first inspired by her Aunty Rhonda Halliday, an uku artist, and influenced by her late mother, Moana-Maree Hemara, a Māori weaver whose mahi helped shape Hemara’s passion for Māori art.Working primarily with acrylic paints, Hemara explores customary Māori design elements through monochromatic tones. Drawing on pūrākau, pakiwaitara, relationality, and her own whakapapa, her work creates visual narratives that carry Māori histories and stories into the present.Hemara is particularly drawn to intricate cut-outs and shaped forms, exploring the relationships between individual elements - how they fit, overlap, connect and interact within a composition. Through this process, her work considers whakapapa and interconnectedness, bringing together layers of form, story and identity. Her Nana was her greatest influence, nurturing her creativity, identity and love for all things great or small from an early age. Now, as a māmā of three young children, Hemara believes in involving her tamariki in all that she does, and this has naturally become part of her artistic practice. The majority of her works involve her children in some part of the creative process, allowing their hands, ideas and presence to become part of the finished mahi. Because she involves her three tamariki as much as she can in all of my artwork, please expect a few flaws, crooked lines and little imperfections along the way! These are the parts she treasures most. They add that extra special touch and remind her young children that even in our imperfections, we can create something beautiful. What we may see as flaws, others may see as beauty!! And that's what makes each piece so special! For Hemara, this is also about whakapapa — passing creativity, mātauranga, how different things connect, influence, belong to and exist alongside one another and a love for toi from one generation to the next, Her newer works proudly carry the words:“Made with love by Te Awa, Rereātea & Kataraina Hemara"
