The K’NEKT NZ Verification Process

Every brand, business, artist and creator that joins K’NEKT NZ will go through our verification process before being approved onto the platform.

Our verification goes beyond simply checking that a business exists. We want to understand who is behind the brand, what they sell, where their products come from, and how those products should be represented to Kiwi shoppers.

As part of the process, we will:

  • Verify the business or seller – checking business identity, ownership and relevant NZ registration or trading information.

  • Review their products – looking deeper into what they sell, where products are made or sourced, and the claims being made about them.

  • Verify product categories – additional checks will apply before products can carry special K’NEKT NZ categories or identifiers.

  • Māori Brands – brands identifying as Māori-owned will go through a whakapapa-based verification process to help protect the integrity of this category.

  • NZ Made – products promoted as New Zealand Made will require information or evidence supporting where and how they are produced.

  • Handmade – we will seek to verify that products described as handmade genuinely meet the criteria for this category.

  • Eco-Friendly – environmental and sustainability claims will be reviewed, with supporting information or evidence requested wherever possible.

  • Face-to-face verification – where practical, we hope to meet our suppliers, makers, artists and businesses kanohi ki te kanohi (face-to-face).

Our goal is to verify as much as reasonably possible, while being transparent about what each verification means.

K’NEKT NZ is about creating a marketplace where shoppers can discover incredible Kiwi businesses while having greater confidence in who they are supporting and what they are purchasing.
